San Biagio has been in the Roggero family for generations and is still a family run winery to this day. The family-run business is coordinated by the company’s owner, Giovanni, while agrotechnician Davide is responsible for managing the vineyards while practicing environmentally friendly farming, winemaker Gianluca handles the vinification, giving the wines their unique and elegant style and respecting their varietal qualities while Tiziana takes care of the business operations, customer outreach and sales coordination.
The San Biagio estate is located in Barolo within the famous Commune of La Morra. It was originally a Benedictine monastery (San Biagio Priory) and is listed in the village archives as far back as 1050 AD. The current winery was built alongside the original farmhouse in the year 2000 and features a modern vinification area, and a below ground cellar which provides the perfect surroundings for wines to mature.
Today, their vineyards span 18 hectares (about 45 acres) and include San Biagio, Rocchettevino, Roncaglia Soprana, Pria-Capalot and the Sorano vineyard, in Serralunga d’Alba for producing Barolo, the Montersino vineyard, in Treiso d’Alba, to produce Barbaresco. Their wines are a superior demonstration of why wines from the Langhe are so beloved and sought out.
